Documentary Subject: Andrew “RuffCutt” Villalobos

Realist or Formalist type:
Shots balanced with imagery and verbal content realized through direct questioning from Andrew (Realist).
Andrew “RuffCutt” Villalobos
A beautiful way his story can be shown, is by showing him at work through a kind of "film poetry". Formalist style allows us to fill in the ambiguity of what our perceptions are, through movement, music, and intent.
Both formats can  following his everyday actions, and balance an excellent story line of what one sees and the chase of how to get there.

Acceptance

Emotion : Acceptance // journey to accept a difficult situation

Storyboard

Video Shot for: SP16-SB-TEL-T273-17498_Emotion Video
This video was challenging in I am not an especially emotional person. Identifying a feeling (thirst, tiredness, etc.) is one thing, depicting an emotion takes more thought. I feel it needs to be authentic. This is my first time editing film and first time using a DSLR. The project entailed depicting an emotion in different ways without dialogue. To do this, the context was played over the course of a day in the life, as a story of someone trying to live with loss.
I transitioned within different points of view / camera perspective.
The story followed the eye of the central character, outside vantage, and also depicted the feelings within at times. The tone stayed relatively consistent. Mood, blues and greys (cool), and much was silhouette.
The theme of acceptance, in this case was something difficult not being able to be changed, but lived with. Music guided transitions (water, driving, statue, seeing the cross). Solitude being an transition as well as part of acceptance.
