Location address: Eric’s home / basement

Day and time of shoot: 4.19.2016 // 2:00pm

Location description (interior/ exterior): The plan is to use only the interior: an open wide basement, with neutral color scheme (greens, browns, greys / earth-tones).  There are several tables, side accent tables and chairs.  Additional furniture includes large green couch, love seat, and entertainment center. 

Camera angles, shot sizes, color, light, movement:

 There will be mid shots > A/B conversational style cuts, transitioning conversations.

I'd like an additional color treatment in addition to the lighting in the room to vary the mood, and elevate the situation.  This will be a director's / editing choice in the end.  I will concentrate on the ambient lighting.

Additionally, our director would like to have shots that turn smoothly from one character to another.  I plan to overcome this, by utilizing a stabilizing table tripod, and a  stone swiveling platform that I own. Whoever is not on camera at the time, can turn it easily.

 

Describe the scene and action. How many people are on camera? There will be 3 people in our cast, which include our production team: Eric, Jonah, and Chrissy.

The action will revolve around script, low action, comedy – similar in style to a web series The Guild” which has gained a large following, and That 70’s Show. The scenes in our Director’s mind, will mimic the scene structure from these series, where a relatable or hypothetical scenario is given, and the characters react to it. The audience sees the absurdity in the scenario, but to the group, in their current condition, it makes perfect sense.

How much space is needed?  The full basement will likely be utilized; some of which will be for off-screen purposes for entrances.

Will the action be shot from one or multiple locations? One location with multiple angles.

Is there off-screen space available? Yes

What are the light levels and sources of light? How does this impact your scene?  There is florescent lighting, also a small window allowing natural light and we also have additional lighting available. It may give a washed out appearance to our initial footage, which can be corrected w the additional warm lighting, and also in editing.   

Are you recording sound? Are there any issues to be aware of?  Yes. We may be utilizing a LAV or Boom mic if the camera mic does not pick up the intended audio.

                         

Is there any special equipment needed? We will be requesting a Mic and perhaps additional off screen lighting.

Are there any concerns that need to be addressed about shooting at this location?  Not that we are aware of at this time.

Pitch overview:

We will do  'pov' shots from speaking characters, intermixed with medium shots.

 : close up / tight shots or mid (intimacy) - this will be dictated depending on the conversation in progress.  If the character is having a monologue it can be full bodied (say if they are on the couch/ full length), or an  A/B (character to character cut).  

 

Different from most of our previous projects, I do not foresee much B-reel in alternate locations needed, however I will be prepared as the script gets prepared to plan for this.  If anything it will be of outtake-style laughter, and such activity. 

Lighting will be a key factor in our situation. Getting the basement to have a warmer, less over exposed value. The staging of the extra furniture in the room also to make it look a bit more intentional will be a goal.  I will incorporate extra lighting and Jonah in editing may make use of filters to achieve the desired look. 

 

We will use one camera, an external mic, two tripods: traditional & table top, and additional lighting.
