Blog - Phrases and Script
A few phrases I've overheard...
"Live today, in this moment as if you intentionally chose it for yourself to live in."
"Internalized Misogamy has to be one of my favorites (excuses/fabrications)...right after she'll learn when she's older.... she'll learn when she's older... like one day, she'll wake up and just be like (a revelation)."
"The food poisoning wasn't that after all, I just didn't take my Prilosec."
"No! I won't smile! I'm NOT a child, and I won't be treated like one!"
"You aren't supposed to put hashtags on Facebook, that's a Twitter thing...."

Script with phrase incorporation and character beats...
Logline: When Arthur finds himself without companionship, alone in a nursing home, he decides to find his old love. When college students pair up with seniors to teach them how to use the internet, that connection proves more difficult.
Tagline: Never Too Old To Feel Young
All happens mid afternoon - in nursing home facility. Florescent lighting, bad maroon and green striped wallpaper, fake and real potted plants. Stale atmosphere, with pops of warm lighting from table lamps.
Beat #1.................. (Camera angle: watching students come in > next from Arthur's POV, & Acting: awkward and disengaged)
Arthur, a lonely elderly man is paired up with Jenna, a upbeat optimistic local college student; participating in a community reach out event for class.
They hit a rocky start.
Beat #2................. (Editing: internal dialogue)
Arthur knows what he wants, he's lonely but is afraid to go full boar into seeking out his lost love. His fears aim misdirect at Jenna, as she begins to help him understand the technology gap. She patiently tries to help, coaxing him to search for her.
He is afraid that too many years have passed since the last of his reliable old sources were heard from; that his old flame (Mary) was still alive. Perhaps too much time has passed.
Beat #3................. (Editing: internal dialogue / Camera: tight on on the pair)
Boldness comes to him through thinking that he could find old friends first. Jenna helps him search. Together they find lead after lead, eventually several friends. Some are alive, some are not. They find his old best friend, which he lost contact with many years ago, "over something dumb...I can't remember." Jenna urges Arthur to be happy about it!
"No! I won't smile! I'm NOT a child, and I won't be treated like one!" - Arthur
When he finds out from his family that his friend has indeed passed away, he feels deeply the need to hear Mary's voice again.
Jenna vows to continue helping him until she has helped him find her.
Beat #4................. (Editing: showing laughter and mood shift / Camera: wide on on the pair)
Through several months of intense searching, Arthur gained several new friends from others on similar searches from across the country. Multiple ladies named Mary became new friends on his Facebook page that Jenna helped him create and manage on his quest.
He becomes quite the novice in his own eyes, which makes Jenna laugh and their bond closer.
"You aren't supposed to put hashtags on Facebook, that's a Twitter thing...." - Arthur
Beat #5................. (Camera: Wide / resolution)
In the end, Arthur finds who he is looking for... But he finds so much more and has an incredible experience along the way. He realizes he is not alone.
"Live today, in this moment as if you intentionally chose it for yourself to live in."
Jenna comes and sees him regularly. The walls are not as confining as they once felt. And he, hears Mary's voice talk to him as often as time allows....Which may be every night.
